Demoscene

One in-depth introduction to the demoscene is my final undergraduate computer science research paper from Spring 2012 research paper (there is also a TXT version, ODT version, DOC version, ODP presentation and PPT version presentation,) originally published as a Fall 2014 article (there is also a TXT version, ODT version, DOC version) in '2600: The Hacker Quarterly.'

I host some files for the demoscene: Gravis Ultrasound Plug & Play FAQ, The Quasi-Official List of Demo Hidden Parts, Keys, and Tricks.

A small demo (intro) I did in C-style C++ (tested C alternative code in comments) is demo.cpp, and its Makefile (which are the current version, and the xz archive file of the last working version of each--sometimes the same.) After compiling, you must press a key such as the space bar several times to go through scenes and to end. There is a lot of extra, experimental, work in progress, and earlier, probably failed, code, in comments in this version, and if you want just what works, or suggestions on improvements, look for my Usenet posting of the final code to comp.graphics.algorithms and comp.sys.ibm.pc.demos (I am not sure the post had the SDL code,) and look at its discussion thread for people's advanced suggestions.
